Watford striker Andre Gray has apologised after he was dropped for Sunday’s Premier League defeat by Southampton for breaching lockdown guidelines.
Gray, Nathaniel Chalobah and Domingos Quina had been overlooked of the squad after Gray reportedly held a birthday celebration at his dwelling on Friday night time.
Gray, 29, stated he would “do what it takes to make it proper”.
“It was not a late-night social gathering like what’s being portrayed,” he wrote.
Current authorities lockdown guidelines permit six folks to fulfill in gardens or parks if social distancing of two metres is noticed.
“[It was] solely a gathering of buddies which changed into a kind of soccer match on my birthday,” Gray added.
“I needed to attend to make a public apology as my first apology wanted to be to my team-mates and workers.”
Watford had been crushed 3-1 in Sunday’s fixture.
