Emma Corrin appears to have come out as queer – and her fans have praised her.
The 25-year-old actress – who shot to fame on Netflix’s The Crown in the role of Princess Diana – seemed to make the announcement when she called herself a “queer bride” in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
In the upload take for Pop magazine, Pennyworth star Emma poses in a white wedding dress with a veil over her face.
Alongside the image – where Emma gazes straight down the camera lens with her arms crossed – she typed: ” ur fave queer bride#POP44 OUT NOW @thepopma@esther_theaker ” alongside a lightning bolt emoji.
Following the post going live, several of Emma’s fans rushed to the comments to send the Golden Globe winner messages of support.
One penned: “QUEER? word i love my life.”
A second added: “PRINCESS DIANA SAID GAY RIGHTS!!!!” and others added strings of multicoloured heart emojis.
More gushed: “You’re simply ethereal” and “love you.”
The Mirror have contacted a representative for Emma Corrin for comment.
Emma’s career has been going from strength to strength and last month Deadline reported that Emma has won the role of Lady Chatterley in 3000 Pictures’ adaptation of the classic novel by D.H. Lawrence.
The film will follow the life of the unhappy Lady Chatterley who falls out of love with her upper-class baronet husband, Sir Clifford Chatterley.
As she searches for fulfilment she finds a passionate relationship with working-class gamekeeper Oliver Mellors prompting her to break with social convention in a true pursuit of happiness.
The role will be one of Emma’s first big movie roles following the success of her work in The Crown, which recently saw her win both a Golden Globe Award and a Critics’ Choice Award for her work portraying the journey of the teenage Lady Diana Spencer into becoming the iconic Diana, Princess of Wales.
She is also reported to have been cast opposite pop superstar Harry Styles in the upcoming adaptation of the period novel My Policeman, which follows a woman in Brighton who falls for a policeman who is in love with another man.
Emma also previously appeared in the DC Comics television series Pennyworth and in 2020 film Misbehaviour opposite Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keeley Hawes, and a future star of The Crown, Lesley Manville.
