‘Great disconnect’ between politicians and the public on mass immigration

MacroBusiness Chief Economist Leith van Onselen says there is a “great disconnect” between politicians and the Australian public when it comes to mass immigration.

It comes as the New South Wales government wants to ramp up immigration to bring in more workers to help with the recovery from the pandemic.

However, a recent poll by the Australian Population Research Institute has revealed 70 per cent of the population does not want a return to pre-pandemic immigration levels.

“Unfortunately, the politicians don’t represent us; they’re representing their big business mates,” Mr van Onselen told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
