Former Man Utd star mocks Lingard to Barcelona speculation: ‘The game’s gone’

Manchester United scoffed at speculation linking the midfielder to the Nou Camp.

Lingard’s contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and he has turned down their offer for a new deal.

The England international wants assurances over the amount of first team football he will get at Manchester United, and with no Premier League starts so far this season, he is obviously not getting them.

The 28-year-old has been linked with glamorous moves to Barcelona and AC Milan when he is available for free next year, but Ince does not think he is up to it and thinks the likes of West Ham (where he spent six months on loan last season) and Everton are more likely destinations.

‘I don’t see Jesse at Barcelona, the game’s gone if Jesse goes to Barcelona,’ Ince told The United Stand. ‘I see him at a West Ham, I see him at an Everton.

‘As much as Barcelona have lost some of their stars, it’s still Barcelona, it’s still the Nou Camp with 80,000.

Lingard has managed just three substitute appearances for Manchester United in the Premier League so far this season, although he has scored in two of those matches.

The Red Devils are keen to keep hold of him, but will need to convince him that first team opportunities will increase for him to sign a new deal.
