Russell Kane has begged fans to stop sending him photos of professional skater Andy Buchanan, after it seems he is a doppelgänger for the comedian.

The 45-year-old Essex born stand-up comedian found himself getting a deluge of messages on social media during the opening episode of the new series of Dancing On Ice.

It would seem that many of his fans wanted to let him know that he passed a striking resemblance to the pro skater who is partnering Rebekah Vardy in the ITV show.

While it may have been amusing to begin with, it would seem that it is getting beyond a joke for Russell as he tried to say ‘enough is enough’.

He posted on Instagram a couple of photos of Andy and Rebekah on the ice rink alongside a plea: “Can everyone please stop messaging pictures of this dude [rolling eye emoji].”

Russell did see the funny side to the comparison, and in the comments on his own post, claimed: “It’s me and Sam Bailey from X factor [laughing face emoji].”

A few hours later, he embraced his skating twin by reposting the same pictures but with his head superimposed over Andy’s, much to the delight of his 245,000 followers.

Magician Ben Hanlin, who competed on the 12th series of Dancing On Ice, commented: “I literally kept saying that last night.”

In the first show on Sunday, WAG Becky, who is the wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, was seen slashing the face of her pro partner in a horrific moment during rehearsals.

There was ‘lots of blood and panic’ as during an intense lift, Rebekah’s blade slashed Andy’s cheek, which left him in lots of pain.

In a VT, she said: “There was blood literally running down the side of his cheek.”

“I really thought I hurt him and I can’t explain that feeling,” she added.

Viewers of the show were shocked as they watched in all unfold at home, with many taking to Twitter as they reacted to the horrifying moment.

One shared: “Woah that accident was scary! But massive respect to both of you for carrying on! What a skate, that was fab! & lovely outfit as well Rebekah!”
