Audi drops ‘insensitive’ girl with banana ad

German carmaker Audi has apologised for an ad displaying a bit girl consuming a banana in entrance of a high-performance automotive, which drew a torrent of criticism on Twitter.

“We hear you and let’s get this straight: We care for kids,” Audi tweeted in its apology.

“We sincerely apologize for this insensitive picture and guarantee that it’ll not be utilized in future.”

Critics stated the kid’s pose was “provocative” and life-threatening.

Some identified that the driving force wouldn’t be capable of see the kid in that pose, leaning on the grille.

Others stated the picture was sexually suggestive, as bananas and sports activities vehicles have typically been seen as symbols of male lust.

Audi’s slogan in English above the picture reads: “Lets your coronary heart beat quicker – in each side.”

The agency says it’s now investigating how the ad got here to be revealed.

In May the rival German automotive big Volkswagen grew to become embroiled in the same social media row over an ad displaying a dark-skinned man being manoeuvred round by a pair of white ladies’s palms, earlier than being flicked away from a yellow VW Golf to a jaunty soundtrack.

The full ad for the Audi RS four on the agency’s web site reveals it being marketed as a household automotive – and that was apparently the context for the controversial Twitter ad that includes the little girl consuming a banana.

Jane Bradford tweeted below the Audi apology: “So, let your coronary heart beat quicker in each side? Picture of – baby with banana in mouth and flash car- so incorrect in EVERY side”.

Shiri@house tweeted: “Little girl with phallic image in her hand. Clear, tremendous…”

And DjBeeTee tweeted: “Let’s add it up: Red=eroticism, sports activities automotive=substitute for efficiency, animal print mini-skirt=intercourse enchantment, banana=phallic image. But certain that is all simply unintended…”

However, Mark Kreuzer, an engineer and blogger, tweeted: “Hmm, properly for me the message is: Audi RS4 = household automotive. Just as your individual daughter makes your coronary heart beat quicker, so does the RS4. And each are in fact cool.”
